Family Therapy
Tuning Relationships with Music® (TRM)
Is a structured, manualised 8-session therapy for parents who have a history of adverse experiences in their own childhood such as abuse or neglect, that mean they may struggle in their relationship with their children.
TRM uses music to help parents and children re-pattern unhelpful ways of communicating, with a particular focus on the nonverbal aspects of their interaction. Musical exercises also help parents and children to find safe ways of connecting, expressing and responding to emotions.
TRM is based on principles and techniques drawn from systemic therapy (family therapy), Emotion Coaching (John Gottman), trauma therapy and music therapy.
During 2021 and 2022 I took part in Level 1 and Level 2 training with Dr Vivienne Colegrove Phd and am pleased to be one of very few music therapists able to offer this to families in the UK.
